Betsy's passion for art began as a teenager when she
first discovered the magic of pastel. Later as an art student at the
Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, her skills were honed in
other media as well, but it was not until her children became teenagers
that she once again returned to the medium she so loved as a young
woman. A move to New Hampshire where she had spent summers while growing
up spurred her interest in creating landscapes, and today her focus is
on capturing the diversity that is New England. Marshes, streams, fields
and forests are all likely subjects among others.
A soft, painterly style is utilized in capturing
the essence of the subject matter resulting in colorful, luminous
renderings. Each color stands alone in the painting, and the layering of
pure color creates a visual, vibrant blending to please the eye |
