Joyce Frederick loved painting and drawing as a
child. Her interest in art is probably inherited from her forebear,
Sebastien Bourdon, the 17th century French artist who has paintings in
the Louvre Museum in Paris. As a teenager, Joyce attended the Boston
Museum of Fine Arts after-school program. When it came to choosing a
career, like many woman of her era, Joyce chose a more utilitarian
career and became a Registered Nurse. She has worked as a Nurse all her
professional life. Even while nursing and raising her four children she
continued her study of art.
She has studied with many local and internationally renown artists, in
classes and workshops, in studios and plein air. She has recently
studied portrait painting with Boston artist, Robert Cormier.
